When you create your AWS account for the first time, by default, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is not going to be enabled. The first step to securing your AWS account is to enable MFA.

Here are the available authentication options for your AWS account:

  • Virtual MFA device
  • U2F security key
  • Other hardware MFA device
